What is mediven forte?
mediven forte is mediven's strongest elastic venous stocking, designed for edema control and serious venous conditions. It is offered in 30-40 and 40-50 mmHg, open toe only.
Why is mediven forte open toe only?
Forte's strongest elastic construction is built for firm, high-level compression and edema containment, and the open-toe design accommodates that firmness while reducing pressure on the toes. An open-toe sandal liner can be used if a fully enclosed foot is preferred.
What conditions is mediven forte used for?
Forte is indicated for moderate to severe varicose veins, moderate to severe edema, and healed venous ulcers, and it helps prevent deep vein thrombosis. It is a specialty garment for serious edema where the strongest elastic support is needed.
What makes forte's material different from other mediven stockings?
Forte uses mediven's strongest available elastic material, engineered for maximum all-day support and serious edema containment. Clima Comfort™ and Clima Fresh™ are still built in for breathability and odor control despite the firmer build.
Do I need a clinician's input for mediven forte?
Yes, forte's 30-40 and 40-50 mmHg levels are firm therapeutic compression that should be prescribed and fitted by a clinician. Proper measurement is important at these levels for both effectiveness and safety.
What does 30-40 mmHg compression treat?
30-40 mmHg is a strong therapeutic compression range used for severe varicose veins, significant edema, healed venous ulcers, and chronic venous insufficiency. It is a clinician-directed level for more advanced venous conditions.
Do I need a prescription for 30-40 mmHg?
Yes, 30-40 mmHg is firm medical compression that should be prescribed and fitted by a clinician. Accurate measurement is important at this level for both effectiveness and safety.
Is 30-40 mmHg hard to put on?
Higher compression is firmer and takes more technique to apply, which is why mediven uses Acu-Knit® construction and offers donning aids to make it manageable. A donning aid or rubber gloves can make application much easier, ask your provider for guidance.
Can anyone wear 30-40 mmHg?
No, firm compression at this level is not appropriate for everyone, particularly people with significant arterial disease or certain other conditions. A clinician should confirm that 30-40 mmHg is safe and appropriate before you wear it.
